Make Sunday a stew day

Sunday stew day. Every Sunday rather than making a big roast dinner , should be the day where you get a big pot, hot water stock and use up all the bits of vegetables and meat the left overs and odds and ends from the cupboards. Use the Sunday stew for using up those few potatoes and bit of chicken and carrots that have been in the fridge for a few days. The stew on a Sunday lasts all day and is a great way to clear out, before going shopping and buying fresh food for the week. A stew is warming and hearty, and comprises all the parts of a Sunday lunch with very little effort, just chop the veg and trim the meat, add hot water and stock , season with salt and pepper and simmer for 1 hour. Easy to make and healthy, the combinations of a good stew are always different
Stimulate don't Annihilate

Getting tired of going to the gym working hard in there, only to come home and crash, and feel wrecked for the next day or so. I want to get a workout in to move my body and use all my muscle groups, but I would also like to come away feeling motivated and invigorated. Pumped up with energy and ready to take on my day. So I am using the Stimulate don't annihilate approach for the next month. Just going to the gym more frequently but going a little lighter on the weights. More reps but lighter weight. Still teasing and setting a task for my body but not leaving where I am going to pass out and need to sleep for 2 days for myself to be back to normal. The type of body I want is not a body builder type but just all all rounded toned physic, I want to be healthy and happy and full of energy and motivation. My previous approach to the gym was run on the treadmill as fast as can till I want to pass out. Add weight to each bar and work to failure with as many reps. and stay ...
Clearing out the clutter

Today has been another session of clearing out the clutter, I have spent a few hours today going under the beds in the back of the cupboards, through boxes and book cases. And I have a few bins full of stuff that’s either broken or useless I have repositioned some items from the rooms in to the basement out the way, I have a mound of items to just be given to charity and I have a list of items being sold on eBay. Why do we keep all these items lying around with no use in our homes and personal spaces? Some of junk I’m selling and giving to charity is always getting in the way or taking up space in my cupboards, but it’s all been there for months and years. It feels good to just have a de-clutter, makes you appreciate the things you keep, why hold on to an item with no use when it can be given to someone who may benefit from it. Old clothing that isn’t worn or doesn’t fit, books that I have read, books on topics which I could easily find the information online. DVD...
Set alarm for same time every day

Instead of setting an alarm for different times, set your alarm clock for the same time every single day. Whether you are on a holiday or day off, if it’s the weekend or if you’re needed at work, pick a time that will be most suitable for all instances. My chosen time is 7am every day as with this time I have enough time to get to work, it’s not excessively early. On days where I’m not needed at work till 11am I can still wake up, this time walk across the room and set the alarm for another hour if needed. Just gets in the habit of waking up at that time even if it isn’t needed. Days off waking up at 7am I have more time in the day to do things and if I go to sleep around 11pm I still have a full 8 hours sleep. The same time everyday setting the alarm is growing the habit and I know that I will be awake at that time so I cannot need to plan too far in advance as I have enough time when I get up at 7am.
Over a month without video games

Over a month without video games This is my update after 39 days putting my Xbox away, what have I learnt so far, I think the main thing is the fact I’m not really concerned about games at the moment, not to say my life is more interesting or I have started a new hobbies, just in conversation about video games or adverts of new games that have come out. I am not really that interested, I am still not interested in getting my Xbox out just yet and I haven’t downloaded any games for my smart phone. I am glad I deleted the aps of my phone with the games as they were simple and addictive, where you spend an hour or so trying to get to the next level and then want to get to the next level The last month or so has been odd, I know I haven’t played computer games but I can’t think what I’ve done to replace them , perhaps it’s an extra 30 minutes watching YouTube more, or another 30 mines here and there to fill the time. Being the wintery months I even didn’t go to the gym m...
7 Days without my Xbox 360 a week without video games

7 Days without my Xbox 360 a week without video games Well it’s been a week since my original post about giving up my Xbox 360 for 30 days. And for you awesome souls here is my 1 week update after not playing my Xbox for 1 week, note I didn’t say video games. The first day was simply spent putting the Xbox away and declaring to my gaming friends I was going to spend some time away from the Video gaming lifestyle. So started pretty easy, but then I noticed I was spending up to an hour a day playing games on my smart phone, so I quit my Xbox 360 gaming but only to shift more of my time on to my smart phone playing the flash games on there. Smart phone game addiction, the problem with these games is your always trying to aim for the next perk or the next achievement. I was playing a temple runner game long in to the night my hands aching and my eyes tired and sore. I was playing the game over and over trying to beat my previous score. Here is a tip check how long...
Cutting down on Facebook time

Cutting down on Facebook time How to decrease time spent viewing Facebook I think I have the compulsion to check Facebook every 20 minutes, I put up a post on the wall then check over and over to see if there is any comments or likes, I check almost once an hour to see if I’ve missed anything, I check the online part to see who I can chat with over and over all day long. When I am not at my computer I check it on my phone, I wake up first thing in the morning and check Facebook to see if anything has been posted overnight, or I check the Facebook and see if I missed anything or any comments on previous posts that I found amusing. Why do I check this so much? I would say off all the time I spend looking at Facebook I could condense the whole lot in to 1 look at the end of the day or 1 look at the start of the day, the continuousness update and news feed to other peoples life I don’t really need to check it that much So I’m not quitting Facebook but I am going to c...

A month without video games So after many years of playing games, playing Warcraft on PC and battlefield and many other games, also still having a back log of games to play through, being 28 now , I've decided when is it time to stop playing video games. I can think of a few times when i have been sat alone in my room playing games unhappy, when there was other opportunity's to have. I stayed in and played the video games, i spent some days of my holidays playing borderlands all day long, I've since sold that game so all that time to level up and beat the game and now i dont even have that game. What have i really achieved. So after another weekend of playing around while other life goals go unchecked, I've put the Xbox and games away. Having a month away from the video games, its a start see how i feel after that and if anything else productive takes the space, for all i know a month without computer games mite be an even worse use of my time. I work on a ...
Rest time Between sets

Think i've been trying to cram in too much working out in too little time , not having enough time between the sets to be able to make the next set as positive as possible and also doing too many reps within the set. New practice is to do high sets with low reps and have a good about of time to recover between sets. Blog i've enjoyed reading http://www.2buildmusclefast.com/p/compound-exercises-to-build-muscle-fast.html http://uk.askmen.com/sports/bodybuilding/bodybuilding12.html also eating smaller and more often , found that if i have a large meal i will feel sleepy for a good few hours after this, so going small enough to keep me topped up with fresh fuel and not too much to keep me weighed down. Lots more casual movement as well ie walking and slow pace cardio. http://www.2buildmusclefast.com/p/muscle-building-routines-muscle.html
